Curtis Benzle–Porcelain-Color & Light
April 22-29, 2012
“Porcelain: Color and Light”, will celebrate the beauty and magic of color and light in translucent porcelain. We will discuss the unique characteristics of vitreous porcelain and will follow up with an exploration of techniques used to color and incorporate color and light into our artwork.
Topics will include carving, color additions and colored clay as we consider colored, translucent porcelain in its many manifestations; sculpture, pottery (agateware or neriagi), translucent lighting and jewelry.
The workshop fee for the students includes tuition (6/7 hours per day with 12 hours studio time – the school does close the studio at night, unlike American programs – but here it is to explore restaurants and wineries at night), lodging, welcome dinner and a freshly prepared Tuscan lunch on the working days, a wine tasting dinner on one of the evenings of the week and materials

Other outings like evening trips to San Gimignano and Certaldo Alto or cooking lessons can be organized at request, to be paid extra. The final cost for students is Euros 910($1,240).
